Have Your Say: Review of Barking and Dagenham's Gambling Policy
Barking and Dagenham Council is reviewing its Gambling Policy for 2026 to 2029 and would like your views.
The policy guides how the Council makes decisions about gambling premises, such as betting shops, bingo halls and adult gaming centres. It also helps ensure gambling is managed safely, fairly and in line with the law.
What's Changing?
The updated policy continues to support the three licensing objectives:
Prevent gambling from being linked to crime or disorder.
Your feedback will help shape the final policy and ensure it reflects the needs of our community.
Why Is This Important?
Gambling businesses can support the local economy and provide entertainment opportunities. However, gambling can also have negative impacts, including:
Financial difficulties.
Poor mental health and wellbeing.
Problems for families and relationships.
Harm to children and vulnerable people.
We want to strike the right balance between supporting lawful gambling and protecting residents from harm.
What Happens Next?
Your feedback will help shape the final policy and ensure it reflects the needs of our community.
Closing Date
📅 The consultation closes on 24 August 2026.
