What is the Gambling Policy?
The Gambling Policy sets out how Barking and Dagenham Council carries out its licensing responsibilities under the Gambling Act 2005.
Why is the Council reviewing the policy?
The policy must be reviewed every three years to ensure it reflects current legislation, national guidance and local priorities.
What has changed in the draft policy?
The draft policy has been updated to reflect national gambling reforms and places greater emphasis on preventing gambling-related harm, safeguarding, public health and local evidence.
Where can I find a summary of the changes to the draft Gambling Policy?
A summary of the main changes is available on the consultation webpage. Please refer to the 'Summary of Changes' document for an overview of the updates included in the Draft Gambling Policy 2026-2029.
Who can respond to the consultation?
Anyone can respond, including residents, businesses, licence holders, responsible authorities and community organisations.
