Recovery and Legacy

Our present working arrangements during the Covid-19 pandemic are remaining in place. Anyone who is currently working from home should continue to do so.

We are continuing to develop our Recovery and Legacy plans, which gives us the opportunity to think about how our services could look and operate in the future, which could include flexible and home working becoming permanent for many people.

Amy changes will be clearly and carefully planned with full consultation following our usual processes, including working fully with Trade Unions before any changes are made.

You will be able to see more information on these Recovery and Legacy plans and details of any future working arrangements in this section

  • Dispersed working segmentation survey

    Updated 6th November 2020

The Covid-19 pandemic, with the majority of staff working successfully from home, has given the council the opportunity to stop and re-think how we work as an organisation – based on the principle of ‘work being what we do, not where we are’.

It is a chance to think about why we need to be in an office, as well as what the office of the future could look like. We want to move to a dispersed working culture, with a number of different worker types, We aren’t starting from scratch on any of this, we have for a number of years successfully delivered great services working as flexible workers working remotely some of the time using fit for purpose IT kit.

We’ll work closely with staff so that your views are heard as we shape the council of the future, beginning with the staff segmentation survey which we carried out in August. Thank you very much to everybody who took part in the survey.

Directors and managers used the results of the survey to put together proposals for how their services could look and operate in the future, which they discussed with the SLT at a series of challenge sessions.

We’re now using the results of these sessions to shape our dispersed working plans, including who sits in which worker type and how we use council buildings in the future. We’ll explain these plans and consult fully with you, including working with Trace Unions before any changes are made.
