Shaping the future of support for local families within Barking and Dagenham.

Consultation has concluded

The Government has recommended some changes to the way Local Authorities undertake the prevention and safeguarding work they complete with families to ensure children, young people and their families are safe.

As part of making these changes, Barking and Dagenham have a dedicated team, known as the Families First Partnership Programme Team (FFPP Team), who are responsible to make sure that any changes made add value to lives and experiences of the children, young people and families in the Borough. This includes getting the views of families about what they would like to see change or keep the same, and what supports they feel people need.

Some of these key changes are that:

  • There should be more focus on preventing families’ situations from getting to breaking point

  • Families should have easier and earlier access to a range of support

  • Families should not have lots of different people asking them the same questions

  • If families need to have a support worker or social worker involved, there should be one key worker to manage the work undertaken

With these in mind, the FFPP team would like to hear your views on what is important to you as we plan to make these changes

Your views can be shared on this feedback form.
