CIL Funding

Barking and Dagenham’s Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a charge on development to help fund infrastructure such as transport schemes and schools which the council, local community and neighbourhoods require to help accommodate new growth from development.


What has been funded by CIL?

East End Women's Museum

£250,000 to fit out the premises for the East End Women's Museum.

Company Drinks, Barking Park Pavilion

£117,800 was awarded to Company Drinks. Among other things, funding was used to refurbish the Pavillion, installing an accessible toilet, a multifunctional classroom and a sustainable heating system.

Thames Clipper, Barking Riverside

£600,000 to make improvements to the jetty so that Thames Clipper riverboat services can operate from Barking Riverside.


Kingsley Hall Church and Community Centre

£300, 000 contribution towards the £5m refurbishment of the community centre.
