Have your say on how a School Street is going at Becontree Primary School

Thank you to everyone that took part in this consultation.

We are analysing the surveys and will update this page in the autumn when consultation across all our School Streets is complete.

YOUR School Street – Tell Us What You Think!

The School Street was introduced to help create a safer environment for children walking, wheeling, cycling or scooting to school. Stevens Road (between Gainsborough Road and Waldgrave Road) is pedestrian and cycle-only zone during term time between the hours of 8am to 9:15am and 2:45pm to 4pm. Emergency vehicles remain exempt and residents living inside the School Street, school staff (where the carpark is only accessible from inside a School Street), some carers, blue badge holders, and local businesses may be eligible for vehicle exemptions.

What we're doing

We’re currently reviewing the School Street scheme to understand how well it’s working and to explore ways it could be improved, guided by feedback from those who use it every day.

In response to requests from local residents, we're also considering extending the School Street zone to include Holden Close, Gainsborough Road, and numbers 2–20 on Stevens Road. A plan has been provided below displaying the proposed extension we are consulting on.

This is your chance to share your views, whether it’s about the proposed expansion, what’s working well, what could be improved, or any ideas you have to help shape the future of the scheme.
