Active Through Football

AUGUST UPDATE:

Unfortunately the funding application to the Football Foundation was unsuccessful. We are working alongside Essex County FA, to ensure that there are Football Opportunities For All within the Borough.

If you are interested in participating in any format of football at any age or would like to discuss opportunities available, then please get in touch with Essex County FA via: sean.harris@essexfa.com / jake.ling@essexfa.com

Active Through Football is a national programme funded by the Football Foundation which aims to increase physical activity levels for people 16 years old and over.

A number of organisations in the borough are working together to bid to bring the project to B&D and with it up to £1m of funding over 5 years to deliver a whole range of football activities.

A key part of the programme is to work with local groups and residents - sporting or non-sporting - to demonstrate the support for the project- and this where we'd like your input.

Football is a great way to keep fit and bring people together. Active Through Football wants to remove the barriers to physical activity and aims to offer local physical activity opportunities, increased social inclusion, sustained behavioural change, and upskill local residents.

With the aim to increase activity levels and create sustained behaviour change, Active Through Football will include recreational and informal small-sided activities, and be shaped by people like you.

To find out how such a programme might work, watch this video from Wolves in the Park: a football group for men over 30.
