What is the true cost of your credit? How have you been impacted by high or unexpected repayments?

If you have had experience with expensive loans or high-interest accounts that have left you repaying far more than you borrowed, then we want to speak to you.

Barking and Dagenham has committed to providing more affordable borrowing options in the borough, including loans with cheaper interest rates and savings opportunities. This would be through a credit union or community provider.

This work would involve you sharing your experience of using credit and how it impacted you. We are developing a more affordable banking offer for the community, and would use these experiences as lessons.


How can I get involved?

If you are interested in staying involved, we want to bring together a group to meet and discuss more about this topic. We want to talk about the experience of high-interest loans and how it has impacted you. Because we want to make sure the new offer benefits everyone.
