Streets Ahead- Access consultation

‘Streets Ahead’ project encompasses all projects that will contribute to the Council achieving one of our key priorities for the next few years: improving the look, feel and quality of our streets and neighbourhoods.

To do this effectively, we need to consult and work with our community to ensure our residents are at the heart of our work to improve Barking and Dagenham's streets.

This project is looking at anything and everything to do with the physical environment in our borough, for example:

  • Pavements
  • Roads/road crossings
  • Parks
  • Green spaces
  • Litter/Fly tipping
  • Bin compounds
  • Allotments
  • Garages
  • Fencing
  • Bridges
  • Parking

This consultation is aimed at residents with disabilities, their families/friends and carers. We would like to hear from you on any ideas or concerns you have around access and anything in the physical environment that impacts on your disability.

You know your local area best, so we want to hear your views on the changes we could make to our streets to improve our borough for residents with disabilities.

An example could be:

'The kerb on the corner of Smith Road (where it joins Wood Lane) needs to be lowered to allow wheelchair access'

To have your say click on the interactive map, or the button below, and let us know what you think. We’ll review your suggestions and prioritise these where possible.
