The Government allows small changes to Pride in Place boundaries before 28 August, as long as each area still covers about 10,000 people.
The Council is suggesting a few minor changes to the boundaries. These are shown on the maps and explained below.
We want to hear what you think and whether you agree, disagree, or think there are other changes that should be considered.
Central Park and Frizlands Lane
The Council is suggesting extending the boundary to include all the streets and buildings around Fiddlers’ Junction.
This is because:
The Fiddlers Corner parade of shops is an important local meeting place and part of everyday community life.
The Ship and Anchor pub site, which is currently derelict, would be included. This could allow improvements or redevelopment in the future if the local Neighbourhood Board wants to prioritise it.
Mayesbrook and Rippleside
Three additions are being suggested:
All of Mayesbrook Park – so the entire park is included within the Pride in Place area.
Barking Hospital site and the Hedgecocks Centre – as these are important local buildings and focal points for the community.
Eastbury Manor House – a well‑known historic site that already helps create a sense of local pride and identity.
