Shaping the future of our borough
We are developing a new Corporate Plan that will guide the Council's work through to 2030.
Our aim is to create a borough where residents can thrive, neighbourhoods are attractive and prosperous, and partners and communities work together to achieve better outcomes for everyone. The proposed plan is built around three themes:
People – helping residents to live good and independent lives in prosperous families and communities.
Place – creating a lifelong borough where everybody can aspire, live, work and stay.
Partnerships – acting together to make our communities fairer and safer.
Before the plan is finalised, we want to hear your views on our proposed goals.
Your feedback will help us understand whether we have identified the right priorities for the borough over the next four years.

The financial resilience of our community is strengthened.

Residents enjoy an inclusive arts culture and heritage offer.

Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise (VCFSE) sector growth and capability is supported by the Council.

Young people finish school with a foundation of core academic attainment and technical skills.

Parks, green spaces and waterways enhance residents’ wellbeing and create thriving habitats for wildlife.

Community-based healthcare is in every neighbourhood.

Residents have pathways and opportunities into good work.

The carbon footprint of the Council and the borough is smaller.

Needs of children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) are met.

There is zero tolerance of domestic abuse.

Affordable and social housing supply is increased.

Anti-social behaviour is strongly enforced against.

More adults live independently for longer.
13.
Social housing is safe and meets Decent Homes standard.
20.
Young people are kept safe and we aim to prevent violence before it happens.

Prevention and appropriate housing options avoid homelessness.
14.
Residential streets are cleaner.
