Community Impact Award
To recognise a community project or initiative led by women that has made a significant impact in the community over the last 12 months.
To recognise those women who have volunteered their time and efforts (not in a paid role) to make a positive difference to their community.






Entrepreneur of the Year 
Educator of the Year
To recognise those women who have demonstrated exceptional skills, innovation, leadership and success in starting and growing their own business.

To highlight the valuable contributions of female educators who have demonstrated excellence in teaching and had a positive influence on the academic achievements, personal growth, and development of others.






Health and Wellbeing Champion of the Year
Woman of Courage
To recognise women who have dedicated their time and efforts towards bettering the health and wellbeing of Barking and Dagenham residents.
To honour women who have demonstrated exceptional bravery and resilience, often in the face of adversity or significant challenges.






Jodie Chesney Young Community Champion of the Year
Anne Estlea Lifetime Achievement Award
To honour those young women who have made a positive contribution in their community through activities such as volunteering or campaigning. 

To recognise and pay tribute to women who over the course of their lifetime, have made significant contributions and had a positive impact in the community by demonstrating exceptional leadership, service, and dedication.


Barking and Dagenham Woman of the Year 2024
Award selected from all nominations received. The woman who deserves special recognition for their outstanding contribution to the borough.

Things to remember when nominating


  • Nominations will close at midnight on Wednesday 31st January 2024.  We will be unable to accept late submissions.

  • Read the guidance document to ensure the person or group you are nominating is eligible to receive an award.

  • The judging panel's decision will be made solely on the supporting information received with each nomination. So clearly state:
  Their main achievements.
  How they have inspired you and others.
  Why they deserve to be recognised.
