At Barking and Dagenham, we want to make sure that our services work for you. That’s why we’re reviewing and making changes across a range of council services.

We are looking at how we work in the following service areas:

  • Council tax
  • Rent collection
  • Benefits

Almost every person in Barking and Dagenham will need to use some of these services at some point. Each household needs to pay council tax, and people sometimes need a bit of extra financial support. That’s why it’s important that our processes are clear and easy to understand.

These services also work with residents going through tough times. We want these services to come closer together and work better for you. By improving the way these services work, our goal is to:

  • Make it quick and easy for you to communicate with us and use our services
  • Offer residents personalised support that meets their needs
  • Offer help when you need it
  • Help you to become more independent in managing your money
