Consultation has concluded

The draft Dagenham Heathway SPD has been developed to provide a comprehensive vision for the area, to encourage growth, and guide future development and investment. The draft SPD sets out the ambition to redevelop the existing shopping centre and reinvigorate Dagenham Heathway as a key centre in the borough and the heart of the Becontree and Dagenham communities.


The vision for Dagenham Heathway is supported by four Place Objectives, which respond to feedback received from engagement with the local community, baseline evidence and the opportunity for regeneration. These Place Objectives are for a:

  • Cleaner and greener Heathway 

  • Safe and successful Heathway 

  • Healthy and connected Heathway 

  • Vibrant and social Heathway 


The draft SPD provides supplementary guidance to Local Plan Policy SPP6, which identifies Dagenham Heathway as a Transformation Area. The draft SPD has been prepared to guide future planning decisions, developer contributions and future funding into and around Dagenham Heathway.
