HAVE YOUR SAY - Help us create safer streets for cyclists.
Consultation has concluded
Be First Regeneration on behalf of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham have been working on a scheme to provide a cycle route from Barking to Dagenham East, linking to the existing Cycle Superhighway 3. The scheme will improve cycling options for local residents, pupils/students and employees.
The scheme aims to enhance cycle connectivity and road safety by introducing a signed, quiet cycle route to provide a safer, easier to navigate and lower-traffic option for residents who are less comfortable riding in busier urban areas. It will link to existing routes including the Cycle Superhighway 3 which runs from Barking to Lancaster Gate.
The proposed changes will introduce a new signposted cycle route, with related walking and highway safety improvements, in sections of Salisbury Avenue, Sandringham Road, Manor Road, The Drive, through Mayesbrook Park, Rugby Road, Ivy House Road, Spurling Road, Parsloes Avenue, Church Elm Lane, Crane Close, Haresfield Road, Blackborne Road, to Dewey Road.

Improvements will require physical works, but the majority are low impact, for example new road signs and markings. This means disruption during the implementation of this scheme, which is planned for late 2025, should be minimal.
These improvements are expected to improve the safety and experience of people walking and cycling along the route. It also supports the Council’s Healthy Streets and Active Travel objectives, to make walking, cycling and using public transport more attractive to residents and visitors.
