The Community Resilience Programme aims to build strong and sustainable links between community groups, local authorities and emergency services to improve collaboration before, during and after emergencies. We believe that communities can become more resilient by harnessing community skills, local talents and assets, and by having their voices heard. This centres around working with the voluntary, community and faith sector to create spaces where groups can come together and identify risks and create needs/assets tools and emergency procedures which will be linked in with the Local Authority’s response.
The programme has 3 overarching goals: engagement, awareness and cooperation.
Engagement: voluntary, community and faith sector groups like yourselves are empowered to engage with emergency planning and response
Awareness: greater awareness of community needs and assets, and clarity on who will do what in an emergency
Cooperation: between local authorities, communities, and emergency services to ensure communities voices are heard
Do you want to help your community become more resilient and be better prepared for emergencies?
Join others in your community to better plan, respond and recover from emergencies At times of crisis, individuals and communities know best what their needs are. We support communities to build their resilience through offering workshops, mentoring and resources to community individuals.
