What is Child Maintenance?

Child maintenance is financial support that helps with a child’s everyday living costs when parents live separately. It can be arranged privately between parents or managed through the Child Maintenance Service (CMS).

About this survey

This survey aims to understand residents’ experiences with the Child Maintenance Service, with private child maintenance arrangements, and various reasons why some parents may not have any arrangement in place. We also want to understand the challenges and barriers that residents face when planning for child maintenance.
Your insights will help us identify where support could be improved so we can design better services for families.
