CAN DO Fund- Round 2

Bring your community together with £250 from the CAN-DO Fund- Round 2.


The CAN-DO Fund is available to groups of residents and small organisations in Barking & Dagenham to organise events and activities to bring your community together.


Barking and Dagenham Council’s CAN DO fund is aimed at helping local residents start projects they are passionate about, whether it is setting up a walking group, creating a craft workshop, starting a sports tournament- or anything else you can think of.



Criteria for the CAN-DO Fund- Round 2

✅ For activities or events taking place in Barking & Dagenham

✅ Activity must be open to the community and be for community benefit

✅ Activity must take place in a public place (not a private premises like your home)

✅ Applications open from anyone- as a minimum you must be a group of 3 unrelated people

✅ Funds will be given as vouchers, unless you meet our grant criteria, or are umbrellaed by a sponsoring organisation. Don't worry- the application form will walk you through this.

✅ We have up to 10 pots of £250

✅ Activity to take place between November 2023 and 31st January 2024

✅ Could help to scale-up an activity from Round 1, or something else you want to make happen

❌ Cannot be used to deliver something you were already planning to deliver





Round 1 Closed- Here's what you did with £50


Round 1 of the CAN DO Fund saw 17 vouchers of £50 go to residents to bring community projects and events to life.

Here's some of what you did with £50

  • A football session for girls with disabilities aged 8-25
  • Candle making workshop
  • Litter picking group social and refreshment
  • BBQ and social for community gardening group
  • Outdoor games for young people
  • Arts and Craft session
  • Board games evening for men's mental health group
  • Teaching English through scrabble



The one-off funding has been secured from the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund, supported by the Mayor of London.
