Black History Month
Black History Month runs throughout October and is a significant month to celebrate the culture, history and achievements that Black African and Caribbean people have brought to the United Kingdom. The rich cultures and traditions of the Black community here have for many years contributed to the diversity of our country and is a fundamental part of what makes Britain, and Barking and Dagenham, so unique.

Feel free to use the common hashtag #BDBHM2023 when promoting your events on social media. This will make it easy to share and repost you events through the council’s social media platforms.
Black History Month 2023- Hall of Fame
Each year, as a part of Black History Month, we honour achievements and contributions made by individuals of African and Caribbean heritage in Barking and Dagenham through a Hall of Fame. You can refer to last year's Hall of Fame here.
