Community Resilience with Prevent

Prevent is a Local Authority safeguarding service which aims to prevent individual and community involvement in violent extremism. We work with individuals, community groups, and institutions to raise awareness of, and build resilience to violent extremism.

We believe that the best way to counter extremist narratives is to talk about them and to raise awareness of the risk and of the threat in our local area. We offer training in e-safety, countering gang violence and countering-terrorism.

Our 2021 community goals are to increase:

  1. Engagement: Voluntary, community, and faith groups are empowered to recognise and to respond to threats and know how to access advice and support from the LBBD Prevent Team.
  2. Training: Community training initiatives promoting e-safety and countering violent narratives is offered via our team and our Prevent-funded projects (see below).
  3. Partnerships: Local authorities, NHS, communities, and faith spaces work together to achieve our goal of ending extremist linked violence in our local community.
